Home Life

So, I've been home now for just over 4 weeks and I think I'm adjusting alright. We have our ups and downs and yesterday was certainly a down. But, today I've felt much better about things... hence the update to our blog. :)
Emerson is getting so big and is ONE MONTH OLD ALREADY! I can't believe how fast time flies and the clothes that are too small on him help me to see the progress he's made in such a short amount of time. Even though he still suffers with acid reflux, and we are constantly going through burp clothes and bibs, I know he is still getting the nutrients that he needs as he does continue to grow. I love being home with him, but it can get lonely and tiresome at times. BUT, I'm certainly not ready to return to work just yet! David has been great and let's me have the evenings to myself and will bottle feed Emerson so that I can sleep until midnight or so. Then I take it from there so he can rest and get to work the next morning.
The holidays were great and very busy. We tried to spend as much time together on the days that David was off and we met up with family whenever possible as well. New Year's Eve wasn't very eventful as we both just wanted to sleep and didn't care if the clock struck 12 or not while we were dreaming.
Today I set an appointment for Emerson to visit a dermatologist at Primary's Children Hospital because of a possible hemangioma on his back. It was noticed right after his birth and didn't seem to be too much of a concern to any of the doctors or nurses, as it was a bump that moved and didn't seem to be causing him any pain. We are hoping that this bump does just what the Pediatrician said it would... grow with him for a year and then in his second year of life it would fade away altogether. We will know for sure next Friday after our Dr. appt.
I'm completely in love with this little man and am hoping that I can actually be the mom that he deserves and needs. My heart aches when he cries and melts when he smiles/grunts/or basically does anything. He truly is a blessing to our family and I can't imagine not having him here. It was only one year ago that David and I were "ready" to have a family of our own and now here we are actually being one. God truly knows what he is doing!

  1. You truly are a great mom! I can't believe he is a month already. Wow, time flies! God really does know what he's doing, I agree. :)
